IIT Bombay alumni warn against four student suicides, demand mental health reforms, fair investigations, and end to militarised exam culture.
The move comes days after the death of Sahil Wakode, a second-year BTech student, who was allegedly found with a mobile phone inside an examination hall during the mid-semester examinations.
Given the nature of Indian higher educational institutional spaces, the spate of dropouts, isolation, and demarcation of Dalit-Adivasi students as 'reserved-category', one is bound to ask whether any form of casteism affected the deceased student.
