City in Ukraine
Kharkiv, also known as Kharkov, is the second-largest city in Ukraine. Located in the northeast of the country, it is the largest city of the historic region of Sloboda Ukraine. Kharkiv is the administrative center of Kharkiv Oblast and Kharkiv Raion. Prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, it had an estimated population of 1,421,125.

It is home to high-tech industries, higher education institutions, and historical landmarks. The city has an extensive public transport system, which includes the Kyiv Metro.

A wave of Russian strikes hit Ukraine Monday, killing at least 7 people, including a woman hit by a daytime strike on the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv.
At least two people were killed when a drone hit the National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv on Monday, as Russia pounded the heart of the Ukrainian capital with some of the most persistent drone strikes since the start of the war.
Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine, killing at least six people, including an Azerbaijani citizen, and injuring dozens others, including 10 children, in strikes on the Kyiv region and Kharkiv.
