Proposed publicly-funded social care systems in Great Britain
A National Care Service (NCS) is a proposed publicly funded system of social care for use in either England, Scotland or Wales. There have been different proposals for each of the three countries of the United Kingdom. A system in England was partially introduced by the Labour government of Gordon Brown in 2010 but abandoned soon after when the coalition government of David Cameron and Nick Clegg came to power in May 2010. Similar to the National Health Service, it would be free at the point of need and paid for through taxation.

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom since 2026
Andrew Murray Burnham is a British politician who has served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party since July 2026. He has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Makerfield in Greater Manchester since June 2026, and was Mayor of Greater Manchester from 2017 to 2026; before that he was MP for Leigh from 2001 to 2017 and held several Cabinet positions. Burnham identifies as a socialist and is associated with the Labour Party's soft left; he is also a member of the Co-operative Party, which is allied with Labour. His political ideology has been called "Manchesterism".
