A fire broke out on Wednesday evening following an explosion in the gas pipeline supplying the Tishreen Thermal Power Plant in rural Damascus.
An explosion damaged two gas lines near Syria’s Tishrin power plant, stopping three power stations and reducing national grid capacity. Gas supplies and electricity are gradually being restored as investigators examine the cause.
For Damascus, the challenge is unfolding across several fronts: identifying those behind individual attacks, securing critical infrastructure and military sites, and maintaining control.
