A military airstrike on a marketplace in Rakhine state, Myanmar, has resulted in 50 fatalities, according to local aid workers. The strike targeted Kyauktaw town and increased concern over security in the region.
Nearly half a million people are displaced in Rakhine as a result of the conflict between the military and rebel groups.
Witnesses say the military bombed the riverside commercial hub in Kyauktaw town, Rakhine state, around midday (0530 GMT) on Monday, when the initial death toll was reported at around 30.
