Hurricane Nolo is preparing to complete a remarkable journey around Hawaii, set to dump a final round of rain on Kaua'i as it passes about 250 miles west of the state's westernmost island, after sweeping south of the Big Island over the weekend.
Hurricane Nolo will continue to strengthen as it moves away from Hawaii, forecasters said, but it was still expected to lash the Big Island and Maui with heavy rain.
The latest forecasts bring encouraging news for Hawaiʻi and the Ironman World Championship, although officials continue to warn of dangerous ocean conditions.
