Pope Leo XIV told sick pilgrims and health care workers in Lourdes, France, on Sunday (Sept. 27) that they "must reject the temptation to cause death under the guise of false compassion," Vatican News reported.
The Pontiff noted that the winds of war are sweeping across Europe and called for an end to the "senseless slaughter" that claims the lives of civilians every day
The pope said that Jesus' call to turn the other cheek may seem to some as "a sign of weakness, or a concession to evil, but that is not the case."
