American murderer on death row (born 1976)
Christa Gail Pike is an American convicted murderer on death row in Tennessee. In 1995, when she was 18, Pike and her boyfriend lured their 19-year-old classmate Colleen Slemmer into a wooded area in Knoxville, where they tortured and killed her. Slemmer was beaten and slashed, and a pentagram was carved into her chest before Pike killed her by crushing her skull. Pike was arrested within two days and sentenced to death in 1996, at the age of 20, making her one of the youngest women sentenced to death in the United States during the post-Furman era.

Place in prison housing inmates awaiting execution
Death row, also known as condemned row, is a place in a prison that houses inmates awaiting execution after being convicted of a capital crime and sentenced to death. The term is also used figuratively to describe the state of awaiting execution, even in places where no special facility or separate unit for condemned inmates exists. In the United States, after an individual is found guilty of a capital offense in states where execution is a legal penalty, the judge will give the jury the option of imposing a death sentence or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
