Tigst Assefa was on pace for a women's world record until the final miles.
Sabastian Sawe, the first man to run the marathon in under two hours, believes even faster times are on the horizon both for him and the sport."I was not expecting to run under two hours," he said.
Tigst Assefa, while aiming to reclaim the marathon world record, ruptured her Achilles tendon during the Berlin Marathon. She finished just 68 seconds behind the record and will be in recovery for several months after surgery.
