Filipino woman released from death row in Indonesia
Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso is a Filipino domestic worker who was arrested in Indonesia for drug trafficking in 2010 and then sentenced to death after being found guilty at trial. Granted a temporary reprieve in 2015, she remained on death row for almost 10 years afterwards. Throughout her 14 years of incarceration, Veloso vehemently protested her innocence and claimed that she was tricked into smuggling narcotics.
