South African police have launched a search for suspects after 17 people were found dead at a tavern southwest of Johannesburg. A separate tavern shooting near Cape Town left 10 dead.
Two mass shootings hours apart near South Africa’s two largest cities killed at least 27 people, police said.
"They allegedly searched some patrons and took their cellphones before fleeing the scene in two unidentified motor vehicles," the South African Police Service said.
