The Berlin Marathon is a marathon event held annually on the streets of Berlin, Germany, on the last weekend of September. Held annually since 1974, the event includes multiple races over the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi), including elite level road running competitions for men and women, a race for the public, an inline skating race, a wheelchair race, and a handcycle race.

Ethiopian long-distance runner (born 1996)
Tigst Assefa Tessema is an Ethiopian long-distance runner and the current world record holder in the women's marathon. She has won four World Marathon Majors, twice in Berlin and twice in London. A former 800 metres specialist, Tigst switched to road races in 2018 and ran her first marathon in 2022.

Greek mythological hero
In Greek mythology, Achilles or Achilleus was a hero of the Trojan War who was known as being the greatest of all the Greek warriors. The central character in Homer's Iliad, he was the son of the Nereid Thetis and Peleus, king of Phthia and famous Argonaut. Achilles was raised in Phthia along with his childhood companion Patroclus and received his education from Chiron, a centaur. In the Iliad, he is presented as the commander of the mythical tribe of the Myrmidons.
