Liu Huan was a Chinese singer and songwriter. He was one of China's modern era pioneers in pop music. Liu combined his music career with teaching the history of Western music at the Beijing University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.

Chinese singer and songwriter Liu Huan, best known for performing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, has passed away. He was 63 at the time of his passing and was well known for his songs like ‘I Want To Become An Immortal’ and ‘The Way,' to name a few.
BEIJING: Acclaimed Chinese singer and university lecturer Liu Huan passed away in Shanghai on Friday morning (Sept 25) at the age of 63.
For decades, Liu Huan's melodic voice was a familiar soundtrack across China.
