Jewish nationalist movement
Zionism is an ethnic nationalist movement that emerged in late 19th-century Europe to establish and support a Jewish homeland through colonization in the region of Palestine, which roughly corresponds to the Land of Israel in Judaism—itself central to Jewish history. Zionists wanted to create a Jewish state in Palestine with as much land, as many Jews, and as few Palestinian Arabs as possible. Zionism was the main force behind the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, and remains the country's dominant ideology today.

In today’s newsletter: The party has voted to define Zionism as racist and back a single Palestinian state. But what does the policy mean, why has it caused alarm among Jewish members, and how will it impact the future of the Greens?
While the motion passed 1,022 to 813, this represents only a tiny proportion of the Green Party's overall membership. With 230,000 members, the vote represented less than 1% of the party.
The Green Party is shedding members and losing global support.
