As of 9 a.m. on Sunday, Florida Power and Light (FPL) restored power to 50,000 customers countywide.
Peak outages numbered approximately 950,000. Utilities said grid modernization efforts kept more customers from losing power and sped service restoration for those who did. FPL said its underground lines performed eight times better than overhead ones.
FPL says 95% of customers affected by Hurricane Isaias have been restored, but the actual number of people without power is much higher.
