Ireland has been thrust into the global spotlight over two controversial Nations League football games against Israel.
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ireland secured a 3-0 victory over the Israeli regime’s team in Hungary as most Irish supporters stayed away from the politically charged fixture, while pubs across Ireland and abroad refused to show the match in protest over Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Despite internal division, protests and minus one player, the Republic of Ireland soccer team voted to play the match against Israel on Sunday as scheduled – and players will meet the anti-Israel backlash when they return home
