UNCTAD expects global growth to slow to 2.6% in 2026 from 2.9% as a Middle East energy shock hits the world economy. Trade should rise 4% after a record $35 trillion in 2025, while China-US trade has fallen over 20% since 2024 and Asia is set to drive 59% of global growth.
In its Trade and Development Report 2026 released on Friday, UNCTAD said developing economies are expected to grow by 4 percent this year, easing from 4.7 percent in 2025.
