Palestinian territory occupied by Israel
The West Bank is the larger of the two Palestinian territories that make up Palestine. A landlocked territory located on the western bank of the Jordan River near the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in West Asia's Levant region, it is bordered by Jordan and the Dead Sea to the east, and by Israel to the south, west, and north. Since 1967, the territory has been under Israeli occupation, which is illegal under international law.

Israel escalates retaliatory measures as Western sanctions target illegal West Bank settlements.
The move by the Israeli Foreign Ministry is a response to Dutch sanctions targeting goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The Dutch Foreign Ministry is yet to comment.
The senior official said the Israeli prime minister met Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, president of the UAE, in an unannounced visit.
