Two mass shootings hours apart near South Africa’s two largest cities killed at least 27 people, police said
Eight gunmen with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire at patrons at a bar in the first of two separate mass shootings in South African townships in the space of a few hours that left at least 27 people dead, police said. No arrests have been made in the two shootings.
South African police have launched a search for suspects after 17 people were found dead at a tavern southwest of Johannesburg. A separate tavern shooting near Cape Town left 10 dead.
