Demonstrators take to the streets of Madrid and other Spanish cities after new legislation fails to pass
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Fresh protests over Spain’s worsening housing crisis are set to take place in Madrid and more than 50 other cities on Saturday, a day after parliament rejected government measures aimed at strengthening protections for tenants and preventing the eviction of vulnerable residents.
Organizers estimated that 500,000 people turned out in the streets of Madrid to demand affordable housing. Similar protests were held in around 50 other Spanish cities.
