In a Science paper published October 15, Google Quantum AI demonstrated a technique that reduces error rates on specialized quantum states by a factor of 40.
Google Quantum AI used magic state cultivation on its Willow chip to cut errors about 40x, easing a quantum computing bottleneck known since 2004.
Google's Willow chip cuts magic-state errors 40-fold via cultivation, but a 92% rejection rate shows fault-tolerant quantum computing still has far to go.
