Eastern Pacific hurricane in 2026
Hurricane Nolo is an active tropical cyclone south of the Hawaiian Islands, currently impacting the archipelago. The nineteenth named storm and ninth hurricane of the 2026 Pacific hurricane season, Nolo first formed as a tropical depression on September 13. Initially designated as Fifteen-E, it soon degenerated to a remnant low due to wind shear.

Fourth-largest island in Hawaii
Kauaʻi, sometimes written Kauai, is one of the main Hawaiian Islands. It has an area of 562.3 square miles, making it the fourth largest of the islands and the 21st largest island in the United States. Kauaʻi is 73 mi (117 km) northwest of Oʻahu, across the Kauaʻi Channel. The island's 2020 population was 73,298.
More on Wikipedia ↗Hurricane Nolo will continue to strengthen as it moves away from Hawaii, forecasters said, but it was still expected to lash the Big Island and Maui with heavy rains through the weekend.
Nolo was a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph early Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said, as its outer rainbands hit the Big Island.
Nolo will slow down as it nears Hawaii's Big Island and is expected to become a major hurricane this weekend, bringing torrential rain to areas that have been flooded by big storms this summer.
