Hurricane Nolo will continue to strengthen as it moves away from Hawaii, forecasters said, but it was still expected to lash the Big Island and Maui with heavy rains through the weekend.
Nolo was a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph early Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said, as its outer rainbands hit the Big Island.
